Putting

Putting should be something that is natural and comfortable to you.  Like with any shot in the game of golf, your correct set-up is fundamental to achieving a successful shot.  Unfortunately, golf manufacturers have largely dictated over the years how we should be set-up when putting by building standard putters to fit all.  As we know, people are not created the same; differences in height, weight, posture and stance are some of the many factors that dictate how we should be setup.

GOLF - how to exercise effectivelly

Not even with professional videos, lessons on driving and technical support from the Pro-Shop your swing will improve, if you won´t consistently and effectively exercise.

You need to be consistent because just by regular repeating and practising of golf swing movements, the muscles are not going to forget these information. To train effectively is important because the muscles consciously let the energy pass through certain motion areas.

This point seems so simple that many players often tend to neglect it. Many golfers mistakenly think that by spending enough time on the green, their score will improve. Unfortunately that´s not always the truth.

To improve your play, it´s important to go through your exercises following the rules and being as concentrated as during the real game itself, if not even more. Fitness exercises and training are to the golf play the same as looking for worms to fishing - if we want to make use of a simple comparison.

You will improve the routine and the correct habits of playing during the golf lessons on the driving range and the practise greens.

A three-phase exercise model:

The warming phase:

  • Many people think that golf isn´t connected to any physical effort and that it´s just a walk during which a golfer swings his/her club a couple of times.
  • The golf swing isn´t any daily routine and that´s why it has to be properly practised and exercised.
  • Especially the shoulder muscles and the lower body muscles are being particularly exerted. That´s why they deserve your attention and targeted exercises during the stretching.
  • Start with the head and continue slowly down to the feet. This exercise guarantees good flexibility and full movableness.
  • If you don´t know any stretching exercise, ask your trainer or co-players for some tips.

The regeneration phase:

  • After warming-up first practise the technique you still don´t  master very well and you need to practise urgentely before the next play. It could be drive, chipping but also putting.
  • Many golfers unfortunately spend hours on the driving without really thinking about it.
  • But the question is if driving is where the shoe pinches you.
  • Do you know, for example, that 60% of all the strokes take place on the green?

The phase of lassitude:

  • In this phase exercise again the swing that you master well but that you want to refresh once more in your memory.
  • It can be bunker shots, rough shots, wedge shots or a long time non practised ïron shots. In this phase you work on the course of the movement and its storing into memory.

After the warming phase it´s also possible to go on driving range and practise ball hitting.

Finally a couple of well-mentioned advice on practising and the game:

  • To achieve a notable improvement, we recommend to spend on practising and exercising twice as the time that you dedicate to the proper play.
  • Let your body relax sufficiently between each exercise phase. It makes no sence to be absolutely exhausted after stretching.

Exhausted muscles can´t absorb anything new and also a psychical exhaustion occurs.
